Brett OwenThis month’s issue is all about sex and these are the 10 steamiest songs in my library. These hot little numbers will have you begging to hit repeat over and over again.

1. Dragonette
I Get Around
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again—Dragonette is my favourite band. No one blends sex and pop like they do, and that’s saying something. Their first single ever was ‘I Get Around,’ a downright slutty romp that hasn’t aged a day since 2007. That opening synth riff still gets me hot under the collar every time.

2. Miguel
Use Me
Miguel came out of nowhere a few years back, jumping from relative obscurity to Grammy- winning success. “Use Me” is my favourite song off his sophomore album “Kaleidoscope Dream.” It’s a slow jam dedicated to being nervous and taking it slow…but not too slow.

3. Eliza Doolittle
Skinny Genes
A tongue-in-cheek tribute to a dysfunctional relationship that only works because they work in the sack. Whistles censor any naughtiness but she makes her point clear: “I really don’t like your skinny jeans/so take them off for me.”

4. Nicolas Jaar feat. Scout LaRue
With Just One Glance (And I Say)
I make playlists for a few restaurants in the city and I always use this song as an example of what I think a trendy lounge should be playing. Featuring vocals by Scout, the daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, it’s a song about how one look can sometimes make you wish you were wearing less. Significantly less.

5. Tove Lo
Talking Body
Tove Lo’s debut album (my album
of the year for 2014) opens with a section dedicated to songs about sex. Here she lays it all on the line: “if you love me right/we f*ck for life.”

6. St. Lucia
Closer Than This
One of pop’s best kept secrets, St. Lucia is a brilliant writer/ producer in addition to having a bunch of kickass tunes under his own belt. He played a brilliant concert last month at The Pyramid and I’m sorry if you missed it. But he’s named for the tropical sound of his music so let this one warm you up on a cold winter night.

7. Say Lou Lou
Better In The Dark
This twin sister duo can do no wrong. Every song of theirs has been better than the last. They’ve finally announced a release date for their debut album, “Lucid Dreaming.” Look for it in February. You won’t be disappointed.

8. Indiana
Solo Dancing
And now for my favourite song of 2014. Indiana makes this playlist for that reason and for this: when we talk about sex, we have to talk about the love that we give ourselves. This one is all about making yourself happy. If you don’t believe me, check out the absolutely brilliant video where she rolls the dice, tenderizes the meat and juices the lemon.

9. Azealia Banks
Esta Noche
Azealia and I have a lot in common. We love the 212 and we don’t know when to keep our big mouths shut. Most importantly we share a love of Montell Jordan’s “Get It On Tonite,” which is brilliantly interpolated into this anthem.

10. La Roux
The brilliant Elly Jackson separated from her bandmate, Ben Langmaid, but kept the
La Roux moniker for the long-awaited follow up to
their 2009 debut. The album underperformed but not
due to lack of great music. “Sexotheque” is right up there with “Bulletproof,” in my opinion.
